Habitat: Lake Malawi, Africa. 

Size: 12-14 cm (4.7-5.5 inches). 

Coloration: Often exhibits a yellow belly and vertical barring, with males displaying more intense colors than females. 

Behavior: A substrate blower, meaning it blows away substrate to find food like insect larvae and crustaceans. 

Diet: While considered a carnivore, it will accept cichlid pellets and spirulina. 

Tank Requirements: A well-filtered tank with a pH of 7.5-8.5, hardness of 10-18°N, and temperature of 22-26°C (71.6-78.8°F) is recommended. 

Breeding: These fish are mouthbrooders; the female incubates the eggs in her mouth. 

Lifespan: Approximately 15 years,
