Size: Adults can grow up to 6 inches, but typically reach 4–5 inches.
Temperament: Relatively peaceful, making them suitable for community tanks.
Diet: Omnivorous, but primarily carnivorous. Feed them cichlid pellets, frozen brine shrimp and daphnia, or shrimp mixes. Avoid bloodworms, tubifex, and beef heart.
Water conditions: pH of 7.8–8.6, hardness of 10–18 dGH, and temperature of 75–82°F. They are sensitive to water quality, so maintain a clean and well-filtered tank.
Compatibility: Compatible with other docile Peacock cichlids like Sunshine and Flavescent Peacocks.
Lifespan: Around 6–10 years with proper care.
Tank setup: Provide plenty of rocks and caves for them to hide in, and line the bottom with fine sand.
Breeding: Mouth brooders.
Aggressiveness: Not an aggressive species.
