The One-and-a-half-stripe hap (Protomelas insignis) is a colorful African cichlid from Lake Malawi, known for its distinctive stripe pattern as a juvenile that fades in adults, which develop brilliant blue and gold colors, especially males. It's a territorial, rock-dwelling fish that is an egg-eater (oophagous) and requires a large aquarium with plenty of hiding spots to accommodate its aggressive and territorial nature, especially during breeding.
Key Characteristics
